The Process

Phlebotomist Direct will provide you with skilled healthcare professionals, appropriately trained in taking blood and Cord blood.

· You are referred to Phlebotomist Direct in order that we can supply healthcare professionals for the purpose of collecting blood from the umbilical cord.

· When initial contact is made, we will ask you to confirm the following information:

- Name, Address, Expected Date of Delivery (EDD)
- Where you intend to deliver, contact details
- And any known medical issues / complaints

· Phlebotomist Direct will identify a healthcare professional in your area and supply both parties with contact details. It is imperative that contact is maintained in order to provide a seamless service.

· You will have been provided with a collection kit . Please ensure the kit with all its contents is available at the birth.

· Our healthcare professional will arrive, as pre-arranged with yourself and Phlebotomist Direct, at the estimated time of delivery.

· The process itself will not take long, and the cord blood sample will be collected as soon as possible following the birth.

Please remember, it is your responsibility to phone the courier using the number provided with the kit to arrange for the pick-up of the sample, and to ensure the collected blood sample is packaged for transport according to the instructions provided in the kit
